Holy Thursday

Ex. 12:1-8, 11-14 | Ps. 116:12-13, 15-18 | 1Cor. 11:23-26 | Jn. 13:1-15

Holy Thursday is the day on which we celebrate Jesus’ last supper. This was the feast of the Passover which all Jews were required to celebrate each year. This was the moment Jesus chose to teach his apostles some important lessons. Jesus, who was the leader, humbles himself and gets down to wash the feet of all who are present. Jesus was aware that Judas would betray him and Peter deny him. He also knows the failings of all the others. Nevertheless, he washed each person’s feet.

Imagine yourself before Jesus and see him come to you to wash your feet. What is your first response? Why? Remain before Jesus and allow him to wash your feet. Allow Jesus’ compassion to flow over you and heal you. Pray for those who cannot accept God’s compassion.
