Thursday of the Second Week of Easter

Acts 5:27-33 | Ps. 34:2, 9, 17-20 | John 3:31-36

Jesus calls us to testify to what we have seen and heard. This is what the apostles are doing in the first reading. The Sanhedrin arrest them again and remind them that they were warned not to preach in the name of Jesus. The apostles boldly proclaim that they must do as commanded by God and not men. This is what John is talking about in the Gospel. Jesus also tells us that if we disobey the Son we will not have eternal life.

Have you ever been in a position where you had to stand up for the truth? How easy was it to do this? Did you have the courage to do so? What motivated you to respond as you did? Ask Jesus for the gift of strength of the Holy Spirit to be able to stand up for your faith whenever you are challenged because of it.
