Saturday of the Second Week of Easter

Acts 6:1-7 | Ps. 33:1-2, 4-5, 18-19 | John 6:16-21

The apostles find that they are not able to do all the work themselves. So they call upon the leadership to name seven men who have been faithful and filled with the Holy Spirit. These men were brought to the apostles and they prayed over them. They were given the task of taking care of the women and children and other administrative duties. The apostles are now able to continue their preaching. All are able to see the power of God in their lives. We see the transformation of the apostles in this first reading from the men of great fear relayed in the Gospel reading. Thus we can see the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

Take time today to pray to the Holy Spirit. Ask for the gift of faithfulness and courage to rely on the Holy Spirit to lead you to do the right thing. The Holy Spirit will give you what you need. Believe this and live your life in that Spirit.
