Monday within the Octave of Easter

 Acts 2:14, 22-33 | Ps. 16:1-2, 5, 7-11 | Mt. 28:8-15

This entire Easter week, the Church uses scripture readings from the Acts of the Apostles and Resurrection appearances of Jesus. Today, Jesus is appearing to the women who went to the tomb to anoint His body.  Jesus tells them not to be afraid but go and tell the apostles to go to Galilee where they will see Him.  In the meantime, the guards run to the priests to tell them what happened.  The priests are presented with a moment of truth.  They can hear this news and allow themselves to be touched and converted.  However, they do not choose to do this.  Rather, their hearts continue to be hardened; and, so, they take measures to have the guards lie in order to maintain their status quo.  Jesus came to touch our hearts and heal us.  We have the choice to listen to Jesus, enter into His Resurrection joy, and so live in that Spirit of God.

Today, spend time with the women to whom Jesus appeared.  Allow yourself to walk in their shoes.  Rejoice with Jesus in His victory over sin and death.  Ask Jesus to touch your heart to remain open to Him.
