Wednesday of the Third Week of Easter; Feast of St. Anselm

Acts 8:1-8 | Ps. 66:1-3, 4-7 | John 6:35-40

Jesus is calling the people to see that He, Himself, is the one who can bring them to eternal life. Jesus is a master teacher and is using symbolic language to touch their lives. He also knows that even though He is present and people hear and see Him, they will refuse to listen and act. We need to have an openness that goes to our hearts more than our heads. Jesus does not teach our rationality. He teaches and reaches out to our hearts. Jesus also assures us that if we do come to Him, we will never be rejected. What more gracious words could be spoken to us? Hospitality A+ is at work here.

Today, take time to be with Jesus. Talk to Him! Listen to the words He speaks. Be open to Jesus. Imitate Christ’s hospitality of openness and accept His love. Bring that love to all you meet today.
