Feast of St. Mark, Evangelist
1Pt. 5:5b-14 | Ps. 89:2-3, 6-7, 16-17 | Mk. 16:15-20
Today we celebrate the Feast of St. Mark whom we acknowledge as the writer of the second Gospel. Peter refers to him when he is writing about the early Christians. When we read the Gospel, we can see how Mark would be listed among the believers. We know from the writings of Paul that Mark was indeed a faithful follower of Jesus and endured much suffering in preaching the Gospel.
Jesus tells us today: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news to all creation.” How do you see yourself as one who is called to proclaim the good news? How do you proclaim the good news to your family, friends, and work acquaintances? Pause to see how much you do for the kingdom? Where can you do more? Begin today.
