Daniel 13:1-9, 15-17, 19-30, 33-62 |Ps. 23:1-6 | John 8:1-11
The Pharisees continue to try to find a way to catch Jesus so that they will be able to arrest him. The woman caught in adultery is a pawn used by them. It is not known what Jesus was writing on the ground. However, the important fact is that the Pharisees were caught in their own trap. Since they want to execute the sinner, Jesus invites those who are without sin to cast the first stone. No one can admit that they are without sin, so they leave one by one. Jesus forgives the woman. This passage is about forgiveness. If we remember that we ourselves are sinners, then we will be more willing to forgive others. We would be able to realize that we cannot take the life of another. We cannot condemn others.
Do you judge others for their deeds? Do you judge those on death row? Do we have a right to kill others? In what manner are you called to forgive others? Take time to see if there is someone who has offended you. Forgive them from your heart.
