Tuesday within the Octave of Easter
Acts 2:36-41 | Ps. 33:4-5, 18-20, 22 | Jn. 20:11-18
We hear Peter speaking to the people gathered on Pentecost today. He is strong and speaks the Word of God without hesitation. He tells all that Jesus is the Lord and Messiah and invites all to conversion. Three thousand are baptized this day. Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene. She is distraught because she cannot find him in the tomb. She believes that someone has done an awful deed and stolen the body. Mary believes the person who speaks to her is the gardener. When Jesus calls her name, ”Mary,” she recognizes Him and responds: “Rabbouni” (which means Teacher). We are called to a similar relationship with Jesus. We need to spend time with God in prayer.
Today, spend time in prayer and be attentive to the words spoken in today’s scripture readings. Allow your self time to be present to this scene. Allow yourself to hear Jesus call you by name. Jesus is tender and loving and will be present to us and give us the strength to lead others to Him as Peter did. Will you take time to be with God in prayer? You will never be sorry.
