Wednesday within the Octave of Easter

Acts 3:1-10 | Ps. 105:1-4, 6-9 | Lk. 24:13-35

Today, Jesus joins the two disciples as they journey from Jerusalem to Emmaus. The disciples are not in good spirits because they have heard about Jesus’ Resurrection, and it is too unbelievable. As they walk, Jesus teaches them all about Himself and why He endured all that He did. As they reach their destination, they invite Jesus into their home. As they sit for dinner, Jesus takes the bread, changes it into His body and breaks it. It is at this breaking of bread that the disciples recognize Him. Jesus disappears. Do you invite Jesus into your home? So, you make time for him in prayer? Do you share prayer with the family? Perhaps this is one of the best lessons of today’s scripture.

Take time to pray with your family. Be open to Christ. In so doing, you will bring Christ to others and allow the healing grace of Christ to touch them as Peter and John did in the first reading.
