Ru. 1:1, 3-6, 14b-16, 22 | Ps. 146:5-10 | Mt. 22:34-40
When all is said and done, the most important element in our lives is that of love. Jesus is questioned about the greatest commandment; and, His response is to love God with all your heart, soul and mind. Jesus adds that the second commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. Ruth, as seen in the first reading, has learned this lesson. She has come to love her mother-in-law and is unwilling to leave her alone after her sons have died. Ruth’s response is “Wherever you go, I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge, your people shall be my people, and your God, my God. What great love this is; and, we would be on the right path if our love for God and for others would be even a portion of Ruth’s love.
Today would be the best day to decide to upgrade your love. It is done, not by changing a disk or CD but by spending time with God in prayer and then transferring the love to others by giving love to all.
