Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

Is. 66:1-7b, 18-21 | Ps. 117:1-2  Heb. 12:5-17, 11-13 | Lk. 13:22-30

A message from the readings today is that of discipline.  Those who wish to achieve something that is worthwhile will have to discipline themselves.  An athlete works for many long hours to achieve a skill.   We must remember to pray each day, practice good deeds, become aware of the needs of others, work to bring about justice, etc.  None of this happens easily at first; but, with disciplined practice, we become able to complete the work with some ease.  This is what Jesus calls us to today, that is, to enter the narrow gate.  Our efforts will not go unrewarded.

Please consider the amount of time you spend in prayer, in helping others, in developing virtues.  What area needs more attention from you?  How will you do so?
