Feast of St. Augustine

1Thes. 4:9-11 | Ps. 98:1, 7-9  | Mt. 25:14–30

The readings continue the theme of listening to God’s Word, accepting God’s Word, and using all that God has given us in order to bring about the Kingdom of God.  Paul calls the people to continue to love people but to do so with great generosity and beyond that of doing in order to receive an award.  Jesus calls us to use all of the gifts God has given us fully.  We are to do so out of love and not out of fear.  If we love God and have a grateful heart for all that we have been given, then we will do all that we can to carry out God’s Word; and, we will not do so out of fear.  Love makes the complete difference!

Reflect on these readings.  Examine your life to see what quality of love you operate.  Are you using all your talents?  What might God be calling you to use more?  How will you respond?
