Feast of the Transfiguration

Dn. 7:9-10 | Ps. 97:1-2, 5-6,9 | 2Pt. 1:16-19 | Lk.9:28-36

Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Transfiguration.  The Gospel relays the events of this great action of God.  Daniel picks up this Gospel by reminding us of how the Holy One of God will be located at the end of the world. Peter tells this story to the people in order to enable them to believe everything that has been taught to them.  He recalls the words: “.This is my beloved Son, listen to Him.” Certainly we would be transformed people if we had witnessed that great event.  However, we are a part of this event through the reading of scripture and praying with the passage. God wants us to recognize Jesus as the One who came to deliver each of us from sin and selfishness.  Surely we would not be able to hear the words “…This is my beloved Son…” and not be touched.  God wants to transform our lives.

Take time to pray with this Gospel.  Ask Jesus to help you pray with this passage and to change you. Give your whole being to the Lord.  Be assured that God will bless you.
