DT. 10:12-22 | Ps. 147:12-15,19-20 | Mt. 17:22-27
Today Jesus seems to be teaching us two things. First, He is going to suffer and die. Second, those who are children of God, will be recipients of all that God has in store for them. We are children of God through our Baptism. However, we remain children by living and acting in accord with all of God’s ways. If we desire to remain with God, then we must take steps to live our lives each day in such a way that all will be judged as actions in accord with God. We must realize that Jesus has come and has redeemed us through His death. We will also be asked to die with Christ. That dying means to be willing to give up all our selfish ways in order to take up the ways of God.
Today, consider your typical day. How do you live your day as a child of God? How would someone who observes you today be able to identify you as one who has taken on the way or example of Jesus? Do you need to make any changes in your life? What are those changes? How will you make them?
