Jos. 24:1-13 | Ps. 136:1-3, 16-18, 21-22, 24 | Mt. 19:3-12
Jesus is challenged in regard to marriage and divorce. He reminds us that what God has joined together, no one can divide. Jesus continues to say that some remain single because God has called them to that state. Some become religious because God has called them to that state. Whatever vocation has been given to us, we are called to live that vocation completely and joyfully. God will give us the grace to live our lives as we should. We are called to rely on this grace of God. Trusting in God’s faithfulness is a theme of the first reading as well. God reminds the Israelites that God has led them throughout the centuries and brought them to the Promised Land. God continues to be with us each step of our journey. God will not abandon us.
Take time to reflect on these readings. How has God helped you in your vocation? How has God supplied the necessary graces when the times were difficult? Give thanks to God for these gifts and graces and ask for the help to remain faithful in the future.
