Dt. 8:2-3; 14b-16a | Ps. 147:12-15, 19-20 | 1Cor. 10:16-17 | Jn. 6:51-58
Today, we celebrate the great feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are celebrating this feast of Beauty, Joy and Faith in the gift that Jesus gave to us and it is beyond understanding. It is a gift from God to celebrate with all the people who live now, lived before Christ and especially those who walked with Jesus.
Jesus has invited us to eat at the table with Him. He is gifting us grace to eat Jesus’ body and to drink His blood. This is a great gift of Faith. We will never fully understand it, but if we ask Jesus to help us believe.
We are reminded in these readings that God has gifted us with the reception of His Precious Body and Blood. We are not able to explain what happens at this celebration but isn’t that what Jesus wants to gift us. Faith is a gift. We cannot explain it fully, but isn’t that what we mean when we say it is Faith? If we could study and try to understand, we would no longer call it Faith.
May God bless you with this gift of Faith. Pray with these two readings from Corinthians and John. Be open.
