2 Cor. 1:1-7 | Ps. 34:2-9 | Mt. 5:1-12
Paul, having been called by God to be His disciple has been touched deeply by Jesus. He knows that Jesus is the giver of the gifts and He will never let us fall away from our life with God.
Jesus is coming to rest in order to be able to minister to all the little children and adults. You have heard us refer to these statements as the Beatitudes. This is a great name for these short invitations to listen to these statements. Ask God to help you understand what they mean. Many people wonder why we call them the Beatitudes when they use the word, I. In some ways we think we should not be mourning, merciful, pure of heart, peacemakers, etc. Take one Beatitude and reflect on it. After you have prayed with it for a few weeks, write what you think God is trying to help you with. When you have done so, go to the next statement and challenge yourself to grow with all people. Amen!
