Dt. 7:6-11 | Ps. 103:1-4, 8, 10 | 1 Jn. 4:7-16 | Mt. 11: 25-30
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The great love of God for us was shown through the suffering and death of Jesus. We are called to come to know this love of God through each of the readings. Deuteronomy reminds us that God has chosen us to be God’s own people. God has been with us from the beginning and will always remain with us. Paul tells us that if we love then we know God, if we do not love then we do not know God. God first loved us, sent Jesus for us, and continues to be with us always. If we remain in love then we remain in God. Jesus invites us to come to Him and to give Him all our troubles and hardships. Jesus promises to give us rest and that in doing so, all our burdens will be light.
Remember times when all seemed to be going well even though there may have been trouble and pain. Remember times when life seemed unbearable: what made the difference? More than likely, the moments when all was going well were moments when you let God take the reins. Reflect on God’s deep love for you. Resolve to let God’s love be first in your life and to let God lead you. Give thanks to God for all of God’s actions in your life.
