Sir. 44:1, 9-13 | Ps. 149:1b-6a, 9b | Mark 11:11-26
Sirach is inviting us to consider the great deeds of the people who are their ancestors in the faith. God speaks of them as people who are aware of God’s presence and will be sure to invite them to grow in the love of God and God’s work in each person.
Jesus decided to go to Jerusalem. His walk brings Him to the Temple, and without warning, he begins to show the leaders of the Temple that this is the house of God, of His Father. The elders are stunned. What is the meaning of this event?
As they walk through the town to Bethany, Jesus teaches all the people who are being disrespectful of the Temple, the House of God. What do you think Jesus is trying to teach the elders, etc.? Give thanks to God for the people who are trying to gift back to God what He has given them. Remember, God wishes us to establish a relationship with others. We are asked to give thanks for those who are in our lives and want to be God’s.
