2 Cor. 11:18, 21-30 | Ps. 34:2-7 | Mt. 6:19-23
Have you ever been with someone who loves to talk about his/her accomplishments? I think most of us have. We hear in the reading from Corinthians what Paul considers his good works. I am not sure that I would boast about these gifts. Rather, God is inviting Paul to see all the good that has been accompanied through difficult times. He has learned to look for the blessings in difficult times.
Jesus tells us not to store our gifts whether they are singing, or other similar gifts, to excess. Storage of food, clothing etc. All of these things go away and perhaps decay if we don’t use them. It is far better to use them for the needs of others than to allow them to decay.
Take time to go around your home and take inventory. What can you give away to the homeless, hungry, cold, etc. When you are finished, reflect on this process and see what you learned.
