Wis. 1:1-7 | Ps. 139:1-10 | Lk. 17:1-6
The book of Wisdom invites us to be people of justice and to listen to the Holy Spirit who lives within us and who directs us in the ways of God. We hear: “The spirit of the Lord fills the world, is all embracing, and knows what people say.” How wonderful to know that God’s Spirit is all embracing! How challenging it is as well! If the Spirit of the Lord is all embracing then we, who are filled with this same spirit, are called to be all embracing as well. This is what Jesus is calling us to in the Gospel. We are called to give good example to all: to love and forgive our enemies; to believe that God can do all things. God calls us to live lovingly and justly each minute of our life. This is not an impossible task if we place all our trust in the Holy Spirit. Calling upon and believing in the power of the Holy Spirit, we will be able to forgive our enemies. We will be transformed to see each person as one who is filled with the Holy Spirit and we will live accordingly.
Take time to ponder the presence of the Holy Spirit filling the whole world and encompassing all of creation. How are you called to live?
