Jonah 4:1-11 | Ps. 86:3-6, 9-10 | Lk. 11:1-4
Jonah is angry because God changed His mind and did not destroy Nineveh. Jonah is also upset over the plant that grew up to provide shade for him but then withered and died. God reminds Jonah that if he could be angry and concerned over one gourd plant, how much more concerned God should be over the people who repent and work to change their lives.
Jesus is asked to teach the apostles how to pray. Thus, Jesus teaches them the Our Father. Jesus instructs us to place our trust in God to ask for forgiveness for all of our sins. What God asks is that we imitate Him and grant forgiveness to all who injure us. That is what it means to be a follower of Christ today. Spend time with these passages. Accept God’s generous love and concern, and then do the same for others.
