Rom. 1:1-7 | Ps. 98:1-4 | Lk. 11:29-32
Paul begins his letter to the Romans by acknowledging that he has been called by God to preach the Word of God. He recognizes that he has a call, and his response is positive. Jesus tells the people that they have been called to hear the Word spoken to them through Himself. Yet they
refuse to do so and expect a sign to be given to them in order to believe. Jesus tells them that He is a greater sign than Jonah was. Yet the people listened to Jonah and were converted. Jesus is telling the people that God is in their midst, and they are hard-hearted. Because of this, they will not be healed.
God asks us to have open hearts. There are many people and events that happen through which God has chosen to bring us to conversion. If we look for something greater, we will miss what is already in our midst. Take time to look around you. What simple but marvelous way does God use to bring His Word of love, peace, and joy to your life? Rejoice in these actions of God and give thanks and praise in return.
