2Tm. 4:10-17 | Ps. 145:10-13, 17-18 | Lk. 10:1-9

The author of this second letter to Timothy is writing to relate his hardships and to ask him for help.  He mentions that Luke is the only one who is with him.  We know that Luke ministered with him for some time.  Luke, the author of our Gospel, is considered to be an evangelist.  He has listened to the message of Christ and has acted upon it.  Doing so, he goes out to the world to bring the Good News to them.  Jesus is missioning the seventy-two to go out and teach.  Jesus reminds them that they are going out as lambs in the midst of wolves.  He teaches them to travel lightly and to depend on God to provide for their needs.  Certainly, we can see how our author practiced this in his letter to Timothy.

God calls each of us to bring the Good News to each person with whom we come in contact.  We are called to be what we hear and to practice that Word each day.  We are asked to change the world, one person at a time.
