Ez. 33:7-9 | Ps. 95:1-2, 6-9 | Rom. 13:8-10 | Mt. 18:15-20
We are reminded in many ways throughout the scriptures that the greatest and most important element of life is love. Today’s readings emphasize that once again. Paul tells us that Ezekiel and Jesus reiterate it when they tell us that love means going beyond the everydayness of life and caring for our neighbors. That care goes to the extreme of trying to remind our neighbor to carry out God’s Word and trying to influence them to live good lives. Jesus goes further by telling us to go to others to help remind our neighbors how to live. This really goes against our thinking in today’s world. We live in a world that teaches us not to mind other people’s business. What Christ calls us to today is to go deeper in our concern for others.
Take time to reflect on these passages. How might God be calling you to live the Gospel further?
