1Tim. 6:2c-12 | Ps. 49:6-10, 17-20 | Lk. 8:1-3
Paul reminds Timothy that those who make money their number one goal will in the end be miserable rather than happy. He reminds us that money is the root of all evil. The first reading exhorts Timothy to be faithful to his promises which he took in front of many people. Timothy, as a leader of the church, promised to pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. These are opposite pursuits from those which people who are greedy practice. In the Gospel, we see Jesus, accompanied by the twelve and some devoted women who provided for the needs of the apostles and Jesus. From these early days, women were involved in Jesus’ ministry. Luke shows us that God needs each of us in order to bring about the Kingdom.
What do you actively pursue? How much time do you devote to Jesus and His mission? Do you need to adjust your plan? How? Begin to do so today.
