Ezra 6:7-8, 12b, 14-20 | Ps. 122:1-5 | Lk. 8:19-21
Ezra contains the story of the rebuilding of the Temple. Animals are sacrificed for each tribe of the people. Priests and Levites are given their duties as established by the law of Moses.
Jesus is told that His mother, brothers and sisters are outside waiting for Him. His response blows them away when he says: “My mother and my brothers are those who do the will of God.” This is a perfect description of Mary. She always did what God asked her to do and was the best example of this. This is what Jesus tries to teach us. We are called by God to do God’s will. That will sometimes require a great deal and at other times much less. What God desires is that we put forth the effort and then rely on God to complete the task.
Pause to place yourself in the scene. How do you carry out God’s will? How do you rely on God to help you?
