We are called to practice humility today. The meaning of humility is to stand in the truth and acknowledge who we are as God’s people. Isaiah tells us that God humbles those in high places and brings low to the lofty city. Jesus tells us that it is not by calling out God’s name that we are healed but by listening to God’s word and then putting it into practice. Those who listen and respond are like those who build their homes on solid ground and are safe in storms. Those who do not listen, have built homes on sand; and, it will be washed away. Jesus calls us to acknowledge that all we are and have come from God; and, when we do so, we tell the truth and bring others back to God.
I am delighted with the way God awaits our truth telling and thereby brings us closer to God.
Pause to refresh your time by reflecting on this Gospel and on your gifts and blessings. Give thanks for all you are, have and will be. God will never be outdone in generosity. Find a way to reach out to others.
