Saturday of the First Week of Advent
Readings: Is. 30:19-21, 23-26 | Ps. 147:1-6 | Mt. 9:35-10:1,6-8
Isaiah continues to encourage the people and to paint wonderful pictures of God’s reign… “There will be no more tears, God will relieve your sufferings, hunger, and want. There will be abundant crops and cattle.” Luke tells the story of what happens when Christ does come. Jesus sends His disciples out to the lost sheep of Israel to proclaim the Kingdom of God. He tells them to cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers and cast out demons. Isn’t this what Isaiah promised the people? God does not make a promise and then forget it. God always keeps His part of the Covenant.
Today, think of some promises you have made. Name one of these promises/resolutions. Have you kept this promise? Why or why not? Does this promise need to be revised? Do so now. Make a plan of action to do to be sure you keep your promise. Ask God to teach you how to be faithful.
