Friday after Ash Wednesday

Is. 58:1-9 | Ps. 51:3-6, 18-19 | Mt. 9:14-15

Isaiah is reminding us what God wants by way of sacrifice and fasting.  God is not looking for us to do great big things that catch the attention of others.  God asks us to do the ordinary things that are a part of everyday living and to do them because they are what we are called to do.  We should perform these actions with deep love.  What are these deeds of love?  Simply put, they are:  feed the hungry, give shelter to those in need, treat all with justice, kindness, love and clothe those who are naked.

In what way is God calling you to respond to the needy, the hungry, the poor, the outcast?

What specific deed will you perform to help those who have less than you?  (Think of places who serve the needy such as St. Francis House, Catholic Charities, etc.)  What will you do to help them?
