1Kings 10:1-10 | Ps. 37:5-6, 30-31, 39-40 | Mark 7:14-23
The Queen of Sheba heard of Solomon’s wisdom and great fortune. She does not believe it. So she makes a trip to see Solomon so that she can judge with her own eyes. What she observes is far greater than the reports. Jesus speaks about the difference between what a person takes within by way of food and what comes out of a person by way of the heart. It is what happens within the heart that makes things good and holy or defiles the person. The queen of Sheeba took all that she saw and allowed herself to recognize the goodness of Solomon. We are called to look at the work of God in the world, in those with whom we work, and live and give thanks and praise for their goodness. If we look upon the works, deeds, or possessions of another and become jealous, etc., then we have allowed the hardness of our hearts to turn away from God.
How do you look upon the blessings of your life? So you think they have come to you of your own merit or do you recognize them as gifts? What will you do about this?
How much time do you take to allow God to teach you God’s love and care for you?
Take time today to give thanks to God for all your gifts and blessings and also for those bestowed on your family and country.
