Feast of St. Agnes
1 Sm. 24:3-21 | Ps. 57:2-4, 6, 11 | Mk. 3:13-19
The theme from the readings today is that of Mission. We are invited to hear God’s call and to carry out God’s work. That is the mission we have. David was called to be King of Israel in place of Saul. Saul does not listen to God’s call and worked against God’s Word by searching for David in order to kill him. God did not allow Saul to find him. David is learning to trust God. Jesus calls forth twelve disciples and gives them the mission of bringing his Word to others. They did this and the mission was successful
Our call to Mission may not come as clearly as David’s or the disciples. However, we know that through our baptism, we have been called to bring the Good News to all with whom we come in contact. Rejoice in the fact that God has called you. Be faithful today by bringing God’s peace and joy wherever you go. Trust that God will always lead you.
