The Gospel today calls us to a largeness of heart! We are asked not to put the light of our faith under a bushel basket because of fear or ridicule, etc. Paul echoes this in the letter to the Hebrews. Christ calls us to give freely from all that we have been given. We fear doing this, thinking that if we do so, we will not have enough. Christ tells us the opposite, “The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.” This jolts us. If we give generously, we will receive generously. This applies to all aspects of life: tithing, knowledge, joy, clothing, food, compassion, etc.

Today, let your light shine before all. Give deeply and freely to others from the gifts you have been given. Pause to consider one way in which you might be able to be more generous. Make a decision to carry out this action today.
