Feast of St. John Bosco
Heb. 12:1-4 | Ps. 22:26-28, 30-32 | Mk. 5:21 -43
The author of the first reading continues to call us to run the race with perseverance and to look to Jesus for the gifts we need. He says: “don’t grow weary or lose heart.” What a great call for us today! He continues to remind us that we have not been called to die and shed our blood. We know that Jesus willingly did that for us. The author’s plea for faith in action is exactly what Jairus and the woman suffering from hemorrhages did. The woman said that all she needed to do was to touch the hem of Jesus’ clothing. Jairus asks for health for his daughter. Jesus tells both of them that if they have faith, they will have their requests fulfilled. Indeed they did. What a wonderful gift they received from Christ for their perseverance in the race. They looked to Jesus, and Jesus responded positively.
Today, consider your faith. How much do you put your faith into practice? Do you believe when everything is going well? Do you also believe when life gets hard? How often do you look to Jesus for all the graces you need? How will you pass this faith onto your children? Go to Jesus for the graces you need right now
