Familiarity with the Lord

Hos. 10:1-3, 7-8, 12 | Ps. 105:2-7 | Mt. 10:1-7

Hosea continues to call the people back to God by encouraging them to break down their false altars and turn towards righteousness.  He continues to encourage them to seek God in all things so that God might see their repentance and bring them healing.  Looking at the Gospel, Jesus is sending the apostles out to the lost people of Israel.  It is as if Jesus is responding to the people to whom Hosea is preaching.  Jesus’ compassion is such that he desires the apostles to go to the lost sheep of Israel and proclaim the good news that the kingdom of God is near.  What deep love Jesus has!  He wants his people to be healed so he sends out more laborers to touch their hearts.  It is as though God will stop at nothing to go out to everyone and to bring them the good news of God’s love.

Take time today to hear God’s good news of love for you.  Spend time in thinking about this love and being with Jesus, God’s gift of love.  Soak in his love as a sponge soaks in water.  Go out to all you meet today and bring the Good News of God’s deep love to them through your own kindness, joy, and peace.
