Feast of St. Justine

Acts 20:28-38 | Ps. 68:29-30, 33-36b | John 17:11b-19

Paul is telling the people that he is about to leave.  He warns them to be faithful and not to listen to those who would try to take them away from following God.  Jesus is praying to God and pleading with God to protect the apostles from all the temptations that will come to them from the evil one.  He is pleading on behalf of the apostles and on our behalf. Take time to listen to these words of Jesus:

“Holy Father, protect them in Your name that You have given me, so that they may be  one, as we are one…..the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.  I ask you to protect them from the evil one.   Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.”

How do these words capture your Heart?  Do you have a sense of God’s deep love for you?   Allow the depth of these words to touch your inner being.  Feel the love that comes forth from these words.  Savor them.  Allow these words to transform  you and draw you closer to God.

Respond to God in your words.
