Fridayof the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time

 2Kings 11:1-4, 9-18, 20 | Ps. 132:11-14, 17-18 | Mt. 6:19-23

Today, we are called to look at what we treasure.  Many of us say our treasure is God. Yet if we are honest and look around our homes, our rooms, and our places of work, we might find that we treasure many other things as well.  Our treasures might include things such as: good reputation, being spoken well of, our homes, our electronics, television, and on and on.  Jesus tells us not to store up treasures on earth.  Perhaps if we look at what we are storing up, we will find where our treasure is.  Jesus also tells us that where our treasure is so is our heart.  Jesus calls us to give our hearts to God and trust that God will give us everything we need.  We do not need to store up extra food, clothing, electronics, reputation, friends, etc.

Where is your treasure?  Spend time asking God to teach you how to trust Him.  Ask for help to discover what you are storing up.  Make a decision today to reduce that treasure and replace it with God.
