Friday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time
2 Cor. 11:18, 21-30 | Ps. 34:2-7 | Mt. 6:19-23
Paul is trying to bring us to reality today. There is nothing that we are or accomplish that we do on our own. That is what Paul is talking about. He is more poignant when he says, “If I must boast, I will boast in my weaknesses.” Why does he say this? Because, his weaknesses are of his own doing; and, it is through our weaknesses that we come to realize that we are in great need of God. Usually when we realize that we can’t do it on our own, we turn to God for help.
This is what Jesus is trying to tell us as well. Our treasure is the place where we put our energies. If our energies are in our accomplishments, then we don’t give proper credit to God for all these accomplishments. Jesus also tells us that if our vision is on these events, then we are losing sight of God. Jesus invites us to change our vision by realizing that God has given all to us, and the best thing we can do is to return all to God with great gratitude.
Is there any area of your life where your vision is not clear or foggy? How can you change that? Begin to work on this area now.
