Monday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time
2Kings 17:5-8, 13-15a, 18 | Ps. 60:3-5, 12-13 | Mt. 7:1-5
Jesus continues his teaching and addresses the topic of judging. When we are in relationship with others at home, work, church, or in other groups, we rub shoulders with them. In doing so, we meet people who may or may not come up to our standards of living or behaving. Jesus seems severe in this reading. It is because Jesus wanted to make a point to those who find fault with others but never look at their own faults. This is the invitation today.
Take time today to look at yourself. Ask God to show you the areas of your life that need to be changed. When you find an area, ask God for the grace to accept yourself an to find a way to change. Take small steps each day and be faithful. When we come to know, accept and forgive
ourselves, we will be able to accept other people and be more forgiving. This is another call to love God, ourselves and our neighbor.
