Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Wis. 1:13-15; 2:23-24 | Ps. 30:2, 4-6, 11-13 | 2Cor. 8:7, 9, 13-15 | Mk. 5:21-24, 35-43
The book of wisdom tells us to seek God with sincerity of heart and to believe at the core of our beings. Paul takes that sincerity to the step of helping others by sharing what we have. If our love for God is sincere, then we will share our goods for the sake of the other person who is in need. The Gospel relates the manner in which Jesus shares his gifts with those in need. The woman who has suffered with a hemorrhage for twelve years is healed immediately. The little girl is healed as well.
If we are to follow Jesus, then we must be willing to share what we have with others. We are gifted in many ways that others are not. We are therefore invited to share those gifts with others. We may have wealth, good health, education, clothing, good food, etc. We are called to share these gifts with others in need.
Take time today to list the gifts you have. Look at your possessions: clothing, food, etc. What can you share with others? Make a plan today to do so.
