Ex. 24:3-8 | Ps. 116:12-13, 15-18 | Heb. 9:11-15 | Mk. 14:12-16, 22-26
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Precious Body and Blood of Christ. We are reminded in the reading from Exodus that the people made restitution for sins by offering up animals and spilling its blood on the people and the altar. Paul reminds the Hebrews that this sacrifice of the Old Covenant was replaced by Christ through His own death on the cross. This is what Jesus is telling his disciples as He celebrates the Passover meal with them. Jesus takes the bread and wine and changes them into His body and blood. He tells His apostles that this is the New Covenant that is being made for them with God through the spilling of His own blood.
Consider the love that Christ has for you. Realize that this new covenant that Christ is talking about is a covenant of God’s love for you. Spend time with Christ today in prayer. Ask Him to touch your heart to be able to feel His deep love for you. Allow that love to move to the depths of your being. How does this love call you to live out your life today, this week, and forever?
