Tuesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time

2Cor 1:18-22 | Ps. 119:129-133, 135 | Mt. 5:13-16

Paul is teaching the people in Corinth about Jesus. He is trying to teach them about faithfulness. Paul uses Jesus as the ultimate example of faithfulness. Christ does not change His response to God. Christ always says “yes.”

Christ’s entire life was lived out of love for God and carrying out God’s will. Thus Christ did all that the Father asked even when that request meant the sacrifice of His own life on the Cross. Jesus is giving us a practical way to follow Him in this passage from Matthew. Jesus tells us that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. If this is the case, then we are compelled to let our light shine before others. Doing so others will give glory to God. Jesus has given us the example. Jesus will continue to walk with us and to guide us about the way to respond in our daily life.

Take time to be with Jesus today. Share your joys and your sorrow with Him. Ask Jesus to give you all you need to respond with your “yes.” Spend time in quiet reflection.
