Second Sunday of Lent

Gn. 15:5-12, 17-18 | Ps. 27:1, 7–9, 13-14 | Phil. 3:17-4:1 | Lk. 9:28-36

Today’s Scriptures are full of the Promise and the faithfulness of God to that Promise.  Genesis relates the covenant that Yahweh makes to Abraham.  Abraham asks for a sign and God gives it to him.  Paul tells us that God is ever faithful and we shall receive our reward when God will change our earthly bodies into heavenly bodies.  This is the fulfillment of our trust and faithfulness.  The Gospel relates the story of the Transfiguration.  This is one of the ways in which God gives to Peter, James and John an insight into who Jesus is.  It is at one and the same time both an insight and cause for great wonderment on their part.  God continues to work with us in much the same way.  God draws us closer to Him each day and helps us fulfill our dreams.  At the same time God invites us to grow and to change.  God keeps the covenant made to us and invites us to keep our side of the Covenant by living each day with great faith and love.

How is God calling you to grow in love with Him today?  What new aspect of faith are you invited to today?  Ask God for the grace to give praise and honor to Him for all the gifts you have received.
