Feast of St. Joseph

2 Sam. 7:4-5a, 12-14a-16 | Ps. 89:2-5, 27, 29 | Rom. 4:13, 16-18, 22 | Mt. 1:16, 18-21, 24a

Today is the feast of St. Joseph.  What a man of strength, courage and faith Joseph was! Think of all that was asked of him!  What would it take today for us to believe all that was asked of him? Yet, I believe it must have required an enormous amount of faith and trust two thousand years ago to accept the fact that his betrothed was to have a child through the power of the Holy Spirit.  How disappointing it must have been to hear that Mary was pregnant!  What a dilemma he must have  had!  Yet Joseph trusted, listened to the angel in his dream and followed unreservedly the Word of God spoken to him.  We are called to do the same today.

Spend time with Joseph and ask him to intercede for you to have the courage and strength you need to follow God’s Word as it is spoken today.  Ask for the faith and trust you need to live each day.
