Familiarity with the Lord

HOMILY OF HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS ("Familiarity with the Lord") The disciples were fishermen: indeed, Jesus had called them when [...]

Tuesday of the Second Week of Lent

Readings: Is. 1:10, 16-20 | Ps. 50:8-9, 16-17, 21, 23 | Mt. 23:1-12

The message today is that of humility. Be who you say you are and realize that everyone has been created by God. Isaiah reminds us to turn to God, confess our sins, be forgiven, and go back to living the way of the Lord. Isaiah also reminds us that there is nothing we have done that cannot be forgiven. Jesus tells us to be sure to act as we should. We are not to imitate those who seek attention and then do not do as they say. This is hypocrisy and will not be acceptable to God. We have one way to act and that is the way to act no matter what the situation.

Look at your life. How do you live each day? Are you looking for people to notice you? What is the motivation for your deeds/actions? What needs to be adjusted? How will you do so?
