Feast of the Annunciation

Is. 7:10-14; 8:10 | Ps. 40:7-11 | Heb. 10:4-10 | Lk. 1:26-38

Today is the feast of the Annunciation. Isaiah foretells this event. He tells us the promises of God for His people. Luke gives us the story of the Incarnation. Paul shows how Jesus has come to bring about the salvation of people. God does not desire sacrifices as such. What God wants is that we will be open to hear the Word of God and carry out that Word in our lives. If we do that, we will be carrying out the Will of God. Mary has done this. She hears the word spoken to her through the angel, and she responds to God’s will by saying “yes.” Because she was willing to do so, Jesus has come to be one among us and lead us to God.

Listen to these readings today. Ask God for the grace to be “open” and “trusting” as Mary was so that you will hear God’s Word and respond positively. How is God asking you to share God with others today?
