Monday of the First Week of Lent

Dn. 9:4b-10 | Ps. 79:8-9, 11, 13 | Lk. 6:36-38

The prophet Daniel intercedes with God on behalf of the people.  Daniel admits that they have not listened to God and have refused to obey God’s word.  He realizes that all that is happening is so happening because of their stubbornness and refusal to follow God’s path.  Daniel asks God to heal them and bring them back.

The Gospel invites us to live the golden rule to the hilt.  Jesus tells us not to condemn and we will not be condemned.  As we live these days, we are called to check out how we live.  Yes, others are also called to reflect and change, but we do not have to answer for others.  We are to be concerned about ourselves.  Indeed, if each person lived this short Gospel to the best of his/her ability, the world would be changed.

Take time to check how you live.  In what area are you called to change.  Begin the journey today.
