2Kings 5:1-15b | Ps. 42:2-3, 43:3-4 | Luke 4:24-30
Jesus tells us that we do not always hear the Word of God spoken to us by those who are near us. The prophets were killed by the leaders of the Jews because they were afraid or jealous of them. To whom do you refuse to listen? Is it your parish priest, a member of your family, a catechist, a friend? Why? Is it because he/she lives too close to you? Does he/she appear to be too common for God to work through? Was Mary someone who appeared to be special, or was she just a common person?
Think of people you write off because they don’t look great or don’t speak with the polished word or don’t appear to have it all together. What might God be saying to you through them? How will you change your attitude toward them?
