Tuesday of the Fifth Week of Easter

Acts 14:19-28 | Ps. 145:10-13ab, 21 | John 14:27-31a

Once again Jesus is extending peace to His apostles and telling them not to be troubled or to be afraid.  Jesus assures them that He will remain with them and bring them to the Father.  This is a difficult task for the apostles; yet, Jesus is asking faith from them. Jesus does not give us gifts in the same way that the world does.  He touches us at the very core of our being and wants to be a part of our lives.  Jesus’ care for us is without measure and does not depend on what we do.  Jesus’ love is unconditional, and we cannot earn it.

Today, allow this fact of God’s love for you to seep into the core of your being.  Do not try to earn it or to bargain for it.  Simply accept this love.  Allow yourself to feel this love deeply.  Remain in this love for a few minutes.  Take this love to all whom you will meet today.  There is no greater response that you can give to God on this day.
