Monday of the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time

Gn. 3:9-15, 20 | Ps. 87:1-3, 5-7 | Jn. 19: 25-34

Today’s readings show us a contrast between Adam and Eve and Mary, Our Blessed Mother. We see how Adam and Eve, wanted to be like God and listened to the devil and brought them an awareness that they were naked.

Mary, as a faithful Disciple, stood at the foot of the Cross and remained faithful to Jesus until the end. Jesus before he died saw the pain that Mary endured and all the pain of the disciples. He knew that both Mary and the disciples needed support and so Jesus gave Mary as a mother to each of us to lead us on the path to Heaven. Mary is the one who bore Jesus in her womb. She also bore him to each of us. If we are suffering, discouraged, etc., Mary will take our illnesses and pains to Jesus for healing.

Mary is constantly before God in Heaven. Remember to talk to Mary today and ask her to bring your needs and the needs of the world to Jesus.
